Tony Oliver is the solo percussionist and timpanist for the Lake Placid Sinfonietta, a member of the Quad City Symphony Orchestra, and a member of the contemporary-music ensemble, The Society for Chromatic Art. In addition to his performance schedule with these groups each year, numerous other chamber and solo events add to his events calendar. As an educator, he has given numerous percussion lectures, clinics, and demonstrations to students and teachers of all ages. He has been particularly involved with the New Horizons International Music Association, which is an instrumental music program designed for older adults. He is currently on the faculty of Monmouth College (Monmouth, IL), where he is Assistant Director of Instrumental Activities and teaches music appreciation and all aspects of percussion studies. He also on the faculty of Augustana College (Rock Island, IL) where he teaches music appreciation, applied percussion, and directs the Augustana College Percussion Ensemble.
Along with performing and teaching, Tony is the proprietor of Curving Walkway Publications, whose publications have been performed throughout the United States. He is a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) as a composer and publisher. He received his B.M., M.A., and Teacher's Certification from the University of Iowa, and his D.M.A. from the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, where he was a graduate fellow. Tony is a SABIAN cymbal artist.
